At Gascoigne we have two “Bronco” and one “Goff” three cubic yard blasters. We only blast stainless steel castings with #30 stainless steel shot. We will not blast any carbon steel or aluminum castings so no cross contamination can occur.
Blasting the casting for a set amount of time is considered a value added operation. It is very beneficial to get the surface free form scale and leave you with a nice, uniform, passive surface. At times casting can look blotchy after Pickling. It is also very beneficial to blast before Electropolish to achieve a consistent finish.
